What Our Guests are Saying About us...

It’s a wonderful and relaxing getaway...

The 1879 Cottage is beautiful and well appointed.  We have stayed twice and are already talking about our next visit.  There is plenty of space for a group of 6 with comfortable beds and two large full bathrooms.  There are multiple outside living spaces.  Our favorite is the fire pit and the screened in porch with a gas log fireplace.  The kitchen is ready for meal prep with a large refrigerator and the muffins and eggs that are provided are delicious.

We enjoyed the quiet surroundings and the walk to Main Street to see the courthouse and eat at the Grand Central Hotel Grill.  There’s also plenty of nature to see such as the unique black squirrels or the bison along the trails in the Tall Grass Prairie Preserve just a few miles outside of town.  We enjoyed an afternoon hike.  The management for the cottage does a wonderful job having everything ready and responds immediately to all requests.  It’s a wonderful and relaxing getaway.

A gem! I highly recommend!

We were a group of old friends who are scattered across KS who wanted to get together in a central location for a weekend retreat. We chose the Cottonwood Falls area and The 1879 Stone House and we were all so glad we did. The house was gorgeous, clean, so comfortable, and absolutely perfect for us. I was partial to the fire pit and the lovely screened back porch. All of us slept well in our comfy beds. We also enjoyed some amazing food and drinks in both Cottonwood Falls and Strong City (all very close and accessible). Our whole experience was 5 stars, and we would definitely meet up there again. I can’t sing enough praises for our hosts, this home, this absolutely beautiful area in Kansas, and the quaint historic downtowns and lovely people of both Cottonwood Falls and Strong City

The Lark Inn was beyond perfect!

Kris greeted us upon our arrival, showed us the beautifully decorated home, and even had fresh farm eggs, homemade jam and muffins for us. The home is centrally located in Chase County where guests can stroll to river or dine at the incredible Ad Astra restaurant. The home was perfect for entertaining some childhood friends during my husband's 40th HS reunion. At the end of the day, we had a good night's sleep on the very comfortable king size bed. Thanks Pat and Kris for opening your guesthouse to us! I can't imagine staying anywhere else. We will certainly contact you again! If you are searching for a place to stay in Chase County, you need not look any further! Beautiful home with too many amenities to list.It is PERFECT!!!!

The place is quaint and incredible!

We would have loved to stay there longer. In fact, if we go back, we will make it a longer stay. Very clean. Very cool. Great way to get away and be with family. The Ad Astra restaurant was AWESOME as well. Definitely try it out.

I am so happy to have stayed here...

Such a wonderful spot. Pat and Kris are entirely lovely, the space was incredibly inviting. I felt like I was staying at a fancy hotel or bed and breakfast, but with all the warmth and coolness of staying with close friends.

What a perfect stay!

We could walk to Friday night music or just hang out on the front porch and watch the world go by.

Our stay at the Lark Inn was really great...

The place was thoughtfully designed and cared for. As guests, we felt welcomed, safe, and at home. We enjoyed hiking at nearby Chase Lake Falls and the Tallgrass Prairie Nature Preserve where we saw buffalo (and baby buffalo) from afar. It has been one of our favorite airbnb stays!

Really loved it...

We stayed at the house on Main St. and just loved it. The Larkins really have a knack for making a cozy and stylish dwelling that is the perfect base of operations for exploring either Cottonwood Falls (it's a minute walk away from "downtown") or the general Flint Hills area. It would be especially perfect for either a trip to the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve or for a romantic getaway.

We had such a fun, relaxing stay at the Lark Inn...

We rented both the Lark Inn on Main and the Lark Inn on Elm. The Lark Inn on Main has a fun, old-west feel, and the Lark Inn on Elm is a modernized Victorian prairie home that easily sleeps 5 or 6 people. The kitchens are modern, with all the tools you need to feed two or ten. The beds and pillows are comfortable. The baby grand in the Elm Street house is a definite plus. Pat and Kris provide a welcoming and easygoing retreat from the stress of everyday life. Both houses are within walking distance of friendly and interesting downtown Cottonwood Falls. WiFi, farm-fresh eggs, and homemade muffins provide a welcome touch to our visit. The carrot muffins were FABULOUS...so good that we asked for the recipe. I personally enjoyed having books available for quiet times, and the front porch on Elm was my most favorite spot to relax, meet the neighbors, listen to and watch the varied bird life, and even watch the rodeo parade. A week-long family vacation was just the thing at the Lark Inn on Elm in Cottonwood Falls was just what this busy lady needed!

The cute cottage on the prairie was exactly what we were looking for!

A quiet setting with a Flint Hills view and a place for our pup to run! The place exceeded our expectations for location, cleanliness, and a cool tiny house vibe. Pat and Kris were very responsive and friendly. We will absolutely come back and stay at their prairie house!

The hosts have thought about everything.
They are great at communicating!

Amazing place to stay with an amazing kitchen. We gathered as a family outside at the fire pit and relaxed. It is such a beautiful place with attention to every detail in the decor. Can be a great place to get away and relax as a family or a gathering place for a group of friends. We enjoyed the trails in the very nearby Flint Hills National Park. The flowers blooming, and the sunrise are amazing. The sunset is as beautiful as any beach sunset I’ve seen. Easy location to get to from many major Kansas cities.

Aunt Kate’s cottage is the perfect spot for a vacation in the Flint Hills.

It’s beautifully decorated, well equipped, and even has some special homemade treats to make you feel more than welcome. Nearby Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve is a true gem: great hiking trails, Bison herds, and amazing wildflowers & birds. The town of Cottonwood has a charm all its own. The perfect home away from home!

What a great AirBnB!

It's a new rental, so everything is in great shape. Light, bright, and airy. Lovely touches like chocolates on the pillows, muffins on the counter, and farm-fresh eggs in the fridge. The bed was insanely comfortable, and the two wall-mounted AC units worked like champs and yet were SO very quiet. Great outdoor spaces at the front and the back, and there's a shared picnic table and fire pit area. Although it was just my husband and I at the cottage - we felt we had tons of privacy even with the neighboring cottage occupied. A fabulous place to go with your significant other, this cottage would also be an amazing place for 2 couples traveling together!
